What Tab Recorder does

Tab Recorder is a Chrome extension that lets you record audio from a browser tab you explicitly choose. You can pause, resume, stop, save, and recover recordings on your device.

Data we process

To provide its core functionality, Tab Recorder may process the following information locally on your device:

• Audio from the browser tab you choose to record.
• The title, URL, and favicon of the selected tab when needed to identify the recording source in the interface or filename.
• Recording metadata such as duration, file size, timestamps, status, and local recording identifiers.
• Extension settings and preferences.

How your data is used

This information is used only to provide Tab Recorder's recording, saving, recovery, and local management features. It is not used for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, or unrelated purposes.

Local storage and recordings

Recording data and temporary recording chunks are stored locally in your browser or on your device. This local storage helps support long recordings and recovery if a recording session is interrupted. Downloaded recordings remain on your device until you delete them.

Data transmission

Tab Recorder does not upload your recordings to external servers and does not use cloud processing for recorded audio. The extension does not sell, rent, or share your recordings or personal data with third parties.

Analytics and advertising

Tab Recorder does not use advertising, behavioral tracking, or analytics services.

Permissions

Tab Recorder uses Chrome permissions only to provide its stated functionality:

• activeTab identifies the tab the user explicitly chooses to record.
• tabCapture captures audio from that selected browser tab.
• offscreen allows local recording to continue after the extension popup is closed.
• downloads saves completed recordings to the user's device.
• storage stores extension settings, recording state, and recording metadata locally.
• unlimitedStorage safely persists temporary recording data for long recordings and recovery.
• favicon displays the selected tab's website icon in the extension interface.

Remote code

Tab Recorder does not execute remotely hosted code. Extension code and dependencies are packaged with the extension.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Tab Recorder uses user data only to provide its stated recording functionality and does not use or transfer user data for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, or unrelated purposes.

Data retention

Local temporary recording data is retained only as needed for recording, recovery, and local recording management. Users can delete locally stored recordings from the extension. Downloaded files are controlled by the user and are not removed by the extension unless the user deletes them separately.

Your control

Audio capture starts only after you explicitly choose to record a browser tab. You can stop recording at any time and delete locally stored recordings through Tab Recorder.

Children's privacy

Tab Recorder is a general-purpose browser utility and is not designed to collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated if Tab Recorder's functionality or data practices change. The current version will be published at this page.
